The park needs to raise money for its continued operations and to do some deferred maintenance (such as repairs to the sprinkler system). For me and for others that I've spoken with at the park, the opaqueness of the park management is a concern. I'm reluctant to contribute money when there are so many issues -- including some basic safety issues -- that need to be addressed.
I've uploaded a PDF file -- which you can download here -- which contains the various filings at the State Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) for People & Pet Park, Inc.
This non-profit corporation and 501(c)(3) eleemosynary organization, formed on November 18, 1997, leases the land for the park from the State of Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources for "community dog park purposes."
As a non-profit it should be noted that there are no shareholders. The land on which the park is located is owned by the State of Hawaii, and is leased to People & Pet Park, Inc., an entity without shareholders.
